Infotech Oulun tohtoriohjelma hakee opiskelijoita yhdeksälle opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriön rahoittamalle opiskelijapaikalle. Paikat alkavat vuoden 2012 alussa.
Applications are invited for nine positions funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture starting on the 1st of January, 2012.
The research work will be done in the research groups of Infotech Oulu that have been selected for the time period 2010 - 2013 (full or associate members). The applicants outside these groups need to contact a professor in these groups before the application deadline, and ask for a short statement.
The amount of the total salary is decided by the research group. The monthly salary from the Infotech Oulu Doctoral Program is about EUR 1800 and a possible salary supplement comes from the research group.
Fields included in the program are electronics, communications engineering, and computer science and information engineering. The director of the program is Professor Markku Juntti. The funding is secure to the end of 2013.
The goal for those who are starting their studies is a doctoral degree in four years in these positions. Infotech Oulu Doctoral Program has 25 research student positions financed by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The positions can be applied by new doctoral students and also those who have already started their studies. Only those who will have their master degrees by the end of October 2011 are eligible applicants. The criteria which are considered in the student selection include the following: the grades of earlier degrees, doctoral research and study plan, passed doctoral courses, and reported earlier research activity. An essential prerequisite to the final selection of a research student to a position financed by the Infotech Oulu Doctoral Program is admission to the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS).
Application forms for admission to UniOGS, in English and in Finnish, can be found at:

If the applicant has not yet applied to UniOGS, all the material needed by UniOGS (linked to this Infotech Oulu Doctoral Program research student position application) must be send to the address above (kirjaamo(at)oulu.fi) in the same email as the application to the Infotech Oulu Doctoral Program research student position, and not to uniogsadmissions(at)oulu.fi (as instructed on the UniOGS application form. This ensures that UniOGS will process the application in time. The Office of the Registrar will send the material to Infotech Oulu Doctoral Program and to UniOGS. Please use the file-naming instructions given by UniOGS (FamilyName_DateOfBirth_Attachment_XX.pdf), but for those documents requested only by Infotech (e.g. the Infotech application form and some appendices), add "Infotech" in front of the file name. Note that some of the requested information is similar for Infotech and UniOGS; more detailed information is usually needed in the Infotech application. Furthermore, some of the attachments (e.g. degree certificates) are required in both applications. Only one copy of such documents should be attached to your electronic application. Two copies of each document should be sent if they are submitted by postal mail.
Note that, in the case where you are not selected to an Infotech Oulu Doctoral Program position funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, you may wish to withdraw your application to UniOGS (for example, you are applying from outside of the University of Oulu, and you will not start your doctoral studies in Oulu without this position). In that case, please indicate this in the email containing your application. This will have no influence whatsoever on the outcome of the selection process for the Infotech Oulu Doctoral Program positions.
