Infotech Oulu has 30 research student
positions financed by the Ministry of Education. Applications are invited for eight
positions starting on the 1st of January 2003 and for a reserve list that will be valid
until the next application. Because many of the students in the current
positions are finalizing their studies, the reserve list will be used more
actively than before.
Fields of the school are electronics and measurement technology, information
processing, software engineering and information systems, and wireless communications. The director of
the school is professor Risto Myllylä.
The fellowships can be applied by new graduate students and also those who have already started their studies. An applicant must have an university degree (graduation no later than Janurary 2003). The following things are appreciated: grades, research activity, and practice of work. The goal for those who are starting their graduate studies is a doctoral degree in four years.
The research work will be done in the research groups of Infotech Oulu Graduate School (= the groups that have achieved at least the associated member status in the Infotech application). Applicants outside these groups need to contact a professor in these groups before the application deadline, and ask for a short letter of reference.
The salary is A18, but generally the
research groups pay extra salary from projects so that the final salary will be
equal to the salary of other researchers.

Infotech Oululla on 30 opetusministeriön rahoittamaa nelivuotista tutkijaopiskelijapaikkaa. Haemme jatko-opiskelijoita kahdeksalle paikalle alkaen 1.1.2003 sekä varahenkilölistalle, jota käytetään jatkossa vapautuvien paikkojen täyttämiseen seuraavaan hakuun asti. Koska monet nykyisillä paikoilla olevista jatko-opiskelijoista on jo opintojensa loppuvaiheissa, niin varahenkilölistaa tultaneen käyttämään entistä aktiivisemmin.
Tutkijakoulun alat ovat elektroniikka ja mittaustekniikka, informaationkäsittelytekniikka, ohjelmistotekniikka ja tietojärjestelmät, sekä langaton tietoliikenne. Koulun johtajana toimii professori Risto Myllylä.
Tutkijaopiskelijapaikkoja voivat hakea sekä uudet, että opinnoissaan jo pidemmälle edenneet jatko-opiskelijat. Lähtövaatimuksena on suoritettu yliopistollinen loppututkinto (valmistuminen viimeistään tammikuussa 2003). Valintaan vaikuttavia tekijöitä ovat arvosanat, aktiivisuuden osoittaminen tutkimustoiminnassa ja aiempi työkokemus. Jatko-opintonsa aloittavilla on tavoiteena tohtorin tutkinto neljässä vuodessa.
Tutkimustyö tehdään Infotech Oulu Graduate Schoolin tutkimusryhmissä (= Infotech-haussa vähintään liitännäisjäsenstatuksen saavat tutkimusryhmät). Ulkopuolelta tulevan hakijan tulee määräaikaan mennessä ottaa yhteyttä johonkin tutkimusalansa professoriin näissä ryhmissä ja pyytää tältä lausunto.
Palkkaus on A18. Tutkimusryhmät yleensä maksavat lisäpalkkaa projektirahoituksesta, jolloin kokonaispalkka tulee yhtä suureksi kuin vastaavilla ryhmän muilla tutkijoilla.
