The course provides a broad mathematcal introduction to spectral analysis of waveguides. The aim of the course is to present the main principles how the spectrum of an elliptic operator can be controlled by varying the geometric and material properties of the waveguides.
1. Basics on the spectrum of elliptic operators
2. Waveguides
3. Floquet theory
4. The band-gap stucture of the spectrum in periodic waveguides
5. Trapped modes
Registration in the beginning of the first lecture. The number of credit points will announced after the course.
